Hi all! I have been lurking here the past couple days, and have found the food info great but also have come to heart the silly threads as well (the threads in the best of 2008 thread were, in fact, The Best). As a new vegan (and a former vegetarian who only recently re-veggified) I am looking for recipes, strategies, and people who understand! Since that appears to be here in mass quantities, I thought I should just join and de-lurk and get it over with!
This is a totally transparent tactic, so I might as well be upfront about it--to endear myself to all of you, I will post cute animal pics:

Hi, my name's Marius. Given that I'm both a punk and a nerd (mostly just nerd though) I should fit in pretty well here.

Hello! I registered on January 1st (my first official day as a vegan) but somehow my username got deleted. Regardless, I march on! I've been a vegetarian for three years and decided to make the next logical step. As of right now, I've just finished a tidy little shopping excursion full of quinoa, sesame oil, tofu, falafel, couscous and earth balance!
Hi and Welcome!

Flavour - are those pics of your cute pets or just random pics? If they're yours - I have the identical twin of the white one! I actually just got up and checked she was still sleeping on my bed, not spirited away to have her picture posted on PPK!

Finland, Finland, Finland.
The country where I want to be,
Eating breakfast or dinner,
Or snack lunch in the Hall,
Finland, Finland, Finland.
Finland has it all.
eta: do the Finnish Inquisition have an almost fanatical devotion to AuntyPope?

Oh no. Devotion is totally total. Same with the flying monkeys.

Hey
I'm new here. Sorta just been lurking so decided to finally say hello. I am an artist and animal lover and just moved to NC last year from MA. Been vegan for 10 years give or take, sorta just "what I do" now, but I also like reading about other vegan's lifestyles, beliefs etc...
In the spirit of all things cute here's my pup Lucy

Hi. I'm new here as well. I've been a vegan for nearly a year, and decided it would be nice to have connections to some non-omnivores. Sadly, I have neither a dog nor a camera, so I've far fewer resources with which to endear myself to you. Hope we can get over that.

All the pet pics posted are animals I know. The white cat is my fiend's cat, named Leo--a boy cat, so no worries! The middle cat in the top row is her cat too. The dog is my parents' dog, and the other two cats are mine. They are all cute, but don't tell them, especially the cats--it just encourages them.

Hi all! I'm guilty of being a lurker but maybe I'll pop in some good sentences every now and then.
Looking quite the lurker in your pic!

Hey! I'm new, but I've totally been stalking for the past few days. I probably won't offer total life changing meaningful conversation, but I'm good for a sarcastic comment now and again. Oh, and I had every intention of winning people over with cute pictures of my dog, but I can't find my camera, so it's entirely possible that she took it and destroyed it.

Hi! I just registered after finding that I had this forum in my bookmarks for at least a year. I only just recently decided to take the plunge into full-on veganism after having been a vegetarian for four years. I'm Anneloes, 19, and living in Amsterdam with my awesome boyfriend and my hyper-active cat Bettie (yes, after Bettie Page). I am a second-year undergraduate student for my BA in English Language and Lit. and my BA in European Studies with a minor in Contemporary Greek language, at the University of Amsterdam. I love cooking, reading, watching lame tv shows and doing some more cooking
Besides that I am completely obsessed with everything fifties, vintage pin-up illustrations and bodymods, especially (old-school) tattoos.
And to make this post a little more entertaining, here is a picture of my kitten in our christmas tree:

Hello! I finally registered after having been a lurker for quite a while. I'm not vegan, and have been vegetarian on and off for a few years now. Someday I'll finally take the plunge... I take full responsibility for my laziness now, but it's a bit difficult when my husband is a dedicated omnivore and somewhat picky eater. Ah, well, excuses, excuses. Either way, reading these forums has been helpful in many ways.
I'm a twenty-something SAHM and sometimes swim coach currently living west of Seattle with my husband, daughter, and with another baby on the way. (We also have two cats, and I'll try to find cute pictures of them.) I grew up in the Northwest, went to college in New England (to study Russian, explaining the handle), and have lived in various places since then including Maryland and South Carolina.
Now that you know just about everything about me that's modestly interesting, I guess I'm officially de-lurked.

Hi
I just registered too, after lurking for a couple weeks. I have been mostly-vegetarian for a while now, but only because the thought of eating meat kind of grosses me out. I recently switched to veganism for environmental and health-related reasons. At the beginning, I wasn't really sure that I would stick with it and sort of just viewed it as an "experiment." I'm now very certain that I want to remain vegan for the rest of my life because of the way I feel as a result. I feel a lot better physically and morally already, even though it's only been a couple weeks since making the switch.
Besides that, I'm a college student in the Seattle area. I'm hoping to graduate in March, so only a little while left of being a student! I work as a researcher right now and hope to continue that for a few years before attending graduate school. I'm pretty busy right now, but things should settle down soon. When I do have free time, I like to run, read, hike, and play sports.
I think that's pretty much it...

Hello everybody! I've been a vegetarian for oh, 14 years (since early high school) and a vegan for 4 or 5 of those in the middle. I got Veganomicon and a food processor recently and I'm learning how to eat and cook without dairy again, which is very delicious and awesome for all kinds of other reasons of course. I wouldn't call myself a vegan, but I'm working on it. I live in the mountains in Ohio. Mountains in Ohio, you say? I'm right at the edge. We'll talk more later!
I'm going to try and post some pictures of animals here, but I'm not quite sure how yet, so I'll have to fix this if I mess it up.
These wonderful guys are no longer with us.
These are.
