i live pretty close to northampton [like 45 minutes]. i'm from brattleboro.

I'm not, but I was highly impressed when last in W Mass (on our day trip to Northampton from...Pittsfield? is that a town?) that the little road side gas station/ice cream store/general store place I stopped at had both soy ice cream (novelties anyway) and NOOCH in bulk.
I don't know how I'd cope if my local gas station had a bulk section.

I like Brattleboro. I haven't been there in a while though. Everything closes too early.

I *heart* Northampton! I lived there for many years. I am now about an hour away but still go back to eat and ride the paddle boats at look park!
There are SO many great places to eat, drink coffee and the farmers market is the best!

my favorite part of northampton is the abundance of vegan truffles. mmm!

I'm not in Northampton, but I love it, and I'm about 45 minutes away in the Hartford area. It was in Northampton that I discovered that there's a woman who makes vegan chocolate with a shop down the street from me! She sells her stuff to The Sweetshop.

uhhh.. consider me shown.

Oh hi! I'm a new Northampton person. I love it here - so many places to walk, hike, bike, eat. All of these things make me a little ill because I'm pregnant, but I'm sure once I get past this morning sickness I'll be able to partake in more fun.
I went to Tofu-a-go-go up in Greenfield yesterday and that was awesome (but too far to go often), and I stopped by the candle factory and sniffed every candle scent known to man. I love how pretty it is out here. I discovered the community gardens this morning. I missed the boat this year, but maybe next year...
So, consider me shown.

I've rode past tofu-a-go-go, but never been. So it's worth checking out? There's a vegan cafe in Florence that's pretty good, Cafe Evolution.

I lurve cafe evolution (and their huge vegan cupcakes). Tofu-a-go-go was really nice, the people were super-friendly. It was worth a drive up because it was too rainy to spend much time outside. I'll go again, but only if there's something else up in Greenfield to go for. The peanutty sauce smelled amazing, I got the chippy blt which was spicy and good.
I really like Greenfield - affordability wise it beats Northampton, and the downtown is wicked cute. Might be where I settle down one day in the distant future since Northampton is a bit up there price-to-size wise.

+1
I totally didn't buy enough of them last time I was there. I ran out after only a week.
your truffles lasted a week??? mine never make it past two days.

I love Northampton. I may go out there for Rilo Kiley at the end of May, but I am seeing them in Worcester and in Providence, so three days in a row may be a bit much.

I love Northampton. I went to school in Northfield, MA and I loved going to Northampton. I used to love shopping at Faces. Mind you, I was in high school and originally from an area very unlike Northampton so I don't know how it would be these days (I'm sure I'd still love it if it still exists) but I loved all the stuff they had. I bought a Jane Austin action figure and a male nurse action figure from there as Christmas presents for work friends.
I said Northampton 3 times above. Will it appear outside my door ala Beetlejuice?
I wish I was there with you guys. I send my love! <3<3<3<3<3<3<3

I missed most of the pride parade today. that makes me sad. I did get in on all the consumer-thon afterwards though.. that's markedly less fun.

i am going to stop and pick some up on my way to my brother's house in greenfield the next time i visit them!

I love Northampton, too! I live about 45 minutes east of there now; it's usually something at the Iron Horse that lures me out there these days, but I should visit more often 'cause it's cool. I lived in Amherst as an undergrad, way back when, and I used to always get my mom to take me to Paul and Elizabeth's when she'd come to visit. Do they still have the Fiddle & Flea festival at Look Park?

WHERE are these vegan truffles you guys speak of? I live about 35 minutes from there and try to go often. My boyfriend isn't too keen on busy places. I heard that yesterday was A Taste of Northampton and wanted to go so badly. I have never been. Faces is still there. They have so many shops that the adults and kids can check out. We went to Paul & Elizabeths once and I dont think we will go back. The food was not good, out waiter was a total asparagus, and there wasnt much to pick from. I really like Thorne's Marketplace.

There is a candy store on main street- it's on a corner (I don't know the name) and a lady from Connecticut sells her vegan chocolates there. She is so awesome, her main store is in Manchester, CT and I go there often. It's called Divine Treasures and it's also gluten free and she uses no refined sweeteners! The lady who owns the store is so adorable! I highly recommend going there and getting chocolates and meeting her. This is what she had to say about her store:
Diane's Story:
"I love chocolates! Sundays was the day that I would go to my grandmothers’, memere, house in Quebec to make all the wonderful chocolate treats for the church. Just think unlimited chocolates – I was sure that my memere house was heaven on earth. Chocolate and Love – what more does any little girl need."
"I inherited the recipes and started converting them to meet my health standards of no refined sugar, no corn syrup and using only vegan/gluten-free ingredients. I started sharing my wonderful treats and everyone loved them. So, I took a leap of faith and started my Divine Treasures Chocolate Shop. What a life - I am surrounded by chocolates everyday – I am in heaven!"
