OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG DOOOOOOOO IT!
I dry fried these, marinated them then crusted them in quinoa and shallow fried them. So good; served over mashers with wilted spinach, roasted red peppers and mushrooms.
close up!

But what are these?
Whatever they are, they look amazing! Crusted in quinoa, who would have thought that?!?!?! Great!

Oh sorry! It's Tofu! When you dry fry tofu ( http://hubpages.com/hub/How_to_Cook_Tofu_Like_the_Pros ) it gives it this awesome texture! A lot chewier than normal.

I'm glad you posted this, as well. Usually we know how to cook tofu, but the other day it was TERRIBLE!

Wow, just wow. I love the idea of quinoa crust.

Qunioa crust is VERY crunchy... almost to a fault. The triangles that were a little more done were a little too crunchy for my taste, gotta keep your eye on those suckers.

I love dry frying! That's a tasty looking meal.
I agree with you on the quinoa; I added some to stuffing last week and the crispy bits on top would have really pissed off my dentist!

Oooh, this is actually how I cook my tofu most of the time (when its not scrambles anyway), only I didn't know the name and just kinda did it on accident at first (I was really busy cleaning dishes or something so I turned the heat way down and went about my business). I usually actually use a thinthin veneer of oil wiped on the pan, but it doesn't really need it, according to their recipe.
Also, I usually cut them up really really small (smaller than dice) but I should try it w/ bigger pieces.
I bet, tofu triangles cut like this would be great w/ hot wing sauce!

Wow, I've been eating tofu my whole life, and this is the first I"ve heard of the dry frying method! I'm going to have to try this some time very soon. I have a feeling this is going to become a standard method of tofu prep in my kitchen. Thanks for the link tsukuta!

I did this w/ some of MBMs tempeh wingz sauce! It was good. I probably should have let them marinate in it and then reheated. Also, one 14oz block of tofu was a little less than necessary to use up all the sauce so one batch of the sauce would probably be better w/ 1.5 blocks of tofu.
The best part is that since its so crunchy on the outside on its own you don't need to go through breading, so its less work for this. Sure the cooking on the stove probably takes longer but you can do other stuff inbetween pressing out the water.
