Okay. Last night I was struck with this concept. I know its hecka hokey, but actually, I have never made a "turkey shaped thing", that seems to be the classic dorky vegetarian thanksgiving entree. So I figured I could get away with it once, right? And plus, I thought that "turkey loaf" was a hil-ar-i-ous pun, and I also thought it was funny that traditional thanksgiving turkeys are protein stuffed with bread, but I was making bread stuffed with protein. Yes. I made this pretty much JUST for the punchline. And it was worth it:
I started with a basic french bread dough:
I baked it until it had a nice thick crust:
Look at that crust!!!
Cut a whole in the bottom:
scooped the fluff out:
I processered the insides of the bread with carrots, onions, celery, mushrooms, and one package of tofurkey sandwich slices:
The stuffed turkey loaf got a layer of melted EB, and was then baked again:
Dinner is served, with moussaka from vcon dazzling up the background:

susi, that is D-E-F-I-N-I-T-E-L-Y not dorky. It's really unique and looks possitively scrumptious in the way that a real turkey could never look. ![]()
EDA: I hate that filter.
