i crave mac & cheez a lot. or, in this case, shells & cheez. i usually just throw some oil and nooch and spices on top of my pasta, but i was craving something more like the old-school stuff...
this is one of the baked recipes from the uncheese cookbook. i had to add a lot of spices to make it better, but i liked the crispiness/creaminess on the inside that came from baking it...
and then, sometime the same week, i caved and made the new farm recipe (cutting back on the oil). it won by a long shot.
isa pizza!
aand veggie pizza.
(kalamata olives, bell pepper, japapenos, mushrooms, roasted garlic, leftover basil-tofu ricotta. sort of strange combinations, but delicious.)
and for some more monotonous porn... we have baked potatoes:
and aspargus-potato soup from vwav:
(there was going to be french fries too, but the pictures didn't turn out. oh well, too many potatoes anyway.)
and sugar cookies, rapidly getting eaten:

are you referring to the one on the left, next to the clover? because the reason i originally took pictures of those cookies was because we could NOT figure out what that shape was supposed to be! they're all holiday themed cookie cutters... eventually our friend figured out it's a flag. backwards.
and to everyone who wanted the new farm recipe... i got it on these forums originally, so i'm just reposting it.
Serves 5
Cook 3 1/2 cups elbow macaroni
In a saucepan, melt 1/2 cup margarine over low heat. Beat in 1/2 cup flour with a wire whisk and continue to beat over a medium flame until the mixture (called roux) is smooth and bubbly. Whip in 3 1/2 cups boiling water, 1 1/2 tsp. salt, 2 Tbsp. soy sauce, 1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder, and a pinch of turmeric, beating well to dissolve the roux.
The suace should cook until it thickens and bubbles. then whip in 1/4 cup oil and 1 cup nutritional yeast flakes.
Mix part of the sauce with the noodles and put in casserole dish, and pour a generous amount of sauce on top. Sprinkle w/ paprika and bake for 15 minutes in a 350 preheated oven. Put in broiler for a few minutes until "cheese" sauce gets stretchy and crisp.
i made a half-batch (which was about 3 servings--plenty--for me) and cut down the oil... i used probably 2 teaspoons instead of tablespoons and went a little easy on the margarine, and it didn't make a difference.

OH MY GOD!
I made that New Farm Mac n Cheese this weekend and it is the best stuff ever.
It's all I can do to not just pig out and eat the whole pan.
It's a MILLION times tastier than the one in The Uncheese Cookbook.
I did cut the oil back to 2 Tbsp.
I would like to try eliminating some of the Earth Balance too.
At least I did use Dreamfields low carb pasta.
This stuff was DELICIOUS.
I'll probably be taking some for lunch tomorrow for my blog.
MAKE THIS STUFF NOW!
