This is a continuation of the cookbook challenge, where we are "challenging" ourselves to try new recipes, from different places. It's a nice goal to shoot for about 3 new recipes per week. Post what you made, and your review. This first week is technically starting this Monday, Nov. 9th (few extra days for PPK!).

Yes! My list:
1. tempeh helper (I'm determined to make this, even though P is resolved to hate tempeh)
2. peanut butter pillows or vegan milanos
3. roasted butternut squash
4. Caesar salad (I love it in Vcon, but I've never made it actually using the capers!)
5. steamed seitan sausages (maybe the same as in VB?)
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the chewy chocolate chip cookies. They are our absolute favorite chocolate chip cookies. I noticed the blog entry about roasted brussels, and I recommend doing that, as well. I love roasted brussels!

There are lots of recipes I've been wanting to try from most of these blogs, but I hope I can keep up!

I'm still trying to decide which recipes to make. Has anyone tried the milano cookies? I'm very intrigued . . .

Yes! I planned on making the tempeh helper anyway this week, so it'll be good to see what others think.

Add one more for the Tempeh Helper!! I've had a package of tempah in the fridge, and that recipe is calling its name.
Mexican Hot Chocolate Snickerdoodles!! I bought chocolate extract at the Scituate Art Festival with the intent of making these cookies.
I think I will also try the Edamame Pesto, sounds really interesting.
AND, if I'm really on the ball, I'm going to try the Pignoli Almond Cookies as a trial run for the holidays. (Everyone I know is getting home made gifts this year, cuz I'm a bit...poor) ~becky

I think maybe you're looking at the site recipes, and not the blog ones? Tempeh helper is here: http://theppk.com/blog/2009/08/18/tempe … ever-make/
I think if you click on the blog, then use that left search for recipes..that takes you to site recipes. You can search the blog recipes on the right, on the bottom.

I see the light!

Ok my game plan is:
1. Linguine With Edamame Pesto
2. mexican chocolate snickerdoodles

4. Brown Sugar Peach Muffins (assuming I can find peaches)
backup 5. Chesapeake Tempeh Cakes
6. Latchkey Lime Pie

I started early!
Caesar salad (with the capers). I followed the recipe, except I didn't do roasted garlic with the croutons (1. because I was lazy 2. because my dressing was pretty garlicky. I have made the roasted garlic croutons before, and they are great!), and I loovveeee this salad. I love the dressing. It's one of my favorite salads!
Roasted butternut squash This was my first time to make/eat roasted butternut, and I really like it. I made sure to do a single layer, and it did get browned on a couple sides, but I thought it was still kind of mushy. I didn't mind it, but it wasn't perfect. I like the flavor.

Yum, your salad looks great, AC! When I was an omni I used to eat caesar salad every day at school. I don't know why I haven't tried a vegan version yet!
